I've chosen common dmg (orc/fell) and personally I'd suggest all of you to use this one. The reason is simple: this damage can be mitigiated only by audacity, which gives at r19 - 30% of mit. When fire/shadow dmg is mitigiated by usual stats, which is 40% for light armour, and even more for heavy/medium (of course if freep has chosen to reach the cap). So the choice is obvious.

Actually this is half-true, currently you are correct it is only mitigated by Audacity and nothing else (I actually made a post in the Member Discussion on that topic).
However come 12.1 the Fell-Wrought and Orc-Craft damage types will again be placed under the 'Common Damage' over-arching category, as was intended. Currently the two aforementioned damage types bypass all mitigations precisely because they are not included under Common Damage and are separate to all those equations - this is, of course, incorrect and unintended. They should be included under Common Damage and 12.1 should correct this.

This means that the 'Armour Value' statistic is now relevant to the equation, as a result Orc-Craft and Fell-Wrought damage will not only be mitigated by Audacity but also by the Free Peoples' armour level, which is very high for heavy classes such as Guardians, Captains and Champions, and to a lesser extent (as they are medium armour I think) Wardens too.

Thanks for posting the preliminary Bullroarer release notes, I was too lazy to look them up myself. ^.^ haha :)

Yours truly,

~Ushrak.

You are welcome Ush ;)

What I haven't found in release notes, that orc/fell dmg types will be added to the common mitigiation, neither it is mentioned here - https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?534293-Need-confirmation-Is-Orc-Craft-and-Fell-Wrought-mitigated-in-Update-12-1

But if you are right, and armour value will be summed up with audacity mitigiation of new dmg types - that will result in 30% + 20% (as far as I remember, armour value gives 20% of mit, it is a cap), which is equal to 50% mitigiation for the new dmg types. In that case I am totally agreed with you - fire/shadow dmg will be in advantage and we should definately use them.

Well, I suppose we can only assume at the moment, so I'll just wait for the 12.1 to come out and check it myself on my LM. And of course I'll post my observations here ;)

About the 12.1 update schedule: Sapience said in one thread, that 12.1 launch is planned slighty before Yule festival, which begins on 18th Dec. So i assume (I'd say like 99%) it is gonna be released on 16th Dec, Monday, since all previous updates were launched on Mondays. Of course there is a little chance it will be delayed.

P.S.: 12.1 change notes are available here: https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?534112-Update-12-1-Preliminary-Release-notes-BULLROARER-ONLY-SUBJECT-TO-CHANGE

re: Helms Deep Audacity

So Turbine has announced another 6 levels of audacity raising it to a total of 19.
As you know this means we will have another 36,000 Commendations to grind to attain Rank 19 Audacity (at 6,000 commendations per Audacity rank).
Therefore if you have any Commendations try not to spend them, instead save them for the new Audacity ranks in Update 12.1, which is set to be released on December 18th if I recall correctly.
If you don't have any Commendations stored up, or you spent them thinking there wouldn't be any new Audacity ranks (as they weren't added upon release of Helms Deep) then try to save some up.
Having 10,000 commendations stacked up when 12.1 goes live will immediately allow you to purchase one rank of Audacity and be only 2,000 commendations away from your second rank.

Good luck, have fun.

Yours truly,

~Ushrak.

P.S: Just as a side-note in 12.1 Freeps will also be getting their level 95 PvMP gear and the Orc-Craft and Fell-Wrought damage types will be placed under Common Damage again, meaning they will no longer bypass all Freep mitigations as they do currently.
